Ambulances
Community Volunteer Fire Department operates five Type I Frazier ambulances. Three of these are built on Chevy 1 ton trucks, the other two on Ford trucks, all are diesel engines and contain on-board Onan generators.
All five ambulances are licensed through the Texas Department of State Health Services as BLS (Basic Life Support) units with MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) capability.
The five ambulances are staffed similarly, with a minimum combination of two Texas DSHS certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Intermediates, or Paramedics on board.
In addition to standard basic life support equipment, each ambulance has a LifePak 12 ECG monitor/defibrillator on board, as well as a variety of oxygen delivery devices and CPAP equipment. The ambulances are all stocked similarly with equipment, medications and devices needed to sustain life at both the BLS and ALS (advanced life support) levels until safe delivery to an emergency department is achieved.
