About Community Volunteer Fire Department
Our History
Community Volunteer Fire Department was officially established on April 12th, 1971. When it was first established, the department could not afford its own fire engine or fire station. The Houston Fire Department loaned the Community Volunteer Fire Department an engine, and the members went to door to door and asked residents to provide a $12.00 donation per year to fund the building of a station. Our Staffing
As a combination department, CVFD has part time employees from municipal fire departments as well as volunteers. Our part time employees staff our stations 60 hours each week from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Monday through Friday. The other 108 hours of each week, as well as major holidays, are served by volunteers. Our four stations are staffed and ready to respond at all times.
