Stephen R. Fowler Fire Field, March 2018 Update

by Assistant Chief Johnny Mitchell | March 31, 2018

We have begun construction on our new training facility!

In 2016, the commissioners of Harris – Fort Bend ESD 100 approved the construction of a multimillion-dollar training facility so that we may further the education of our fire and medical personnel. After two years of research and development, this state of the art facility will include areas for live fire training, technical rescue, and emergency medical simulation. The new training facility will give firefighters and EMT’s an opportunity to learn scenarios they will likely see when responding to live emergency situations. It will be centrally located and will greatly enhance the quality of training that CVFD firefighters and medical personnel receive so that we may better serve the people of our area.

Opening this facility will allow the department to expand upon its certification base as a testing facility for both the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals Assn of Texas, and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. CVFD is also in the process of becoming a coordinating department with the Texas Department of State Health Services which will allow us to teach our own courses from EMT through Paramedic.

This facility will also assist our new Community Outreach Division in hosting public fire education and CPR courses. Something of this magnitude is definitely a first for CVFD and is sure to benefit the entire community through education and safety. With the approval of this facility, it is evident that the commissioners of the Harris-Fort Bend ESD 100 are committed to the professional development of our members and the safety of the residents who reside within our boundaries.
