Interested in Firefighting?

Whether you are already certified or do not have any prior experience, Community Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) has an opportunity for you.

CVFD provides all of the training you need to become State Firemen’s & Fire Marshals’ Association (SFFMA) certified as a firefighter in Texas.  CVFD hosts a recruit academy twice each year which starts from the ground up in both classroom and hands-on training.  Individuals with prior firefighting experience may not have to attend the academy and will be handled on a case-by-case basis based on the individual’s knowledge, experience, and skill set.

More than a Firefighter

In addition to fire suppression, firefighters at CVFD do much more than simply fight fires.  Our suppression personnel are also highly utilized in rescue and EMS operations. Each district has its own extrication equipment, and the department also has a heavy rescue truck. Engine companies are dispatched on potentially critical EMS calls. Our firefighters may need to use their entire skillset in a single shift!
