Tactical Medic Team AnnouncementKris Parrent | June 1st, 2018
Community VFD is proud to announce the creation of our Tactical Medic Team!
The tactical medic team will be unarmed and work alongside SWAT teams in high risk situations to provide immediate life-saving care. Tactical medics are prepared to respond to situations such as school shootings, raids by law enforcement, or any other situation to supplement the SWAT teams. The tactical medics will be specifically trained in urgent trauma interventions such as tourniquet applications, emergency airway management, and wound dressing. According to the Stop the Bleed Coalition, the US Army ranks hemorrhage as the leading cause of preventable death in the battlefield. Having our medics trained and on the front lines with law enforcement provides us with the best opportunity to save the lives of victims of life-threatening trauma.
The tactical training is being provided by Steve Flemming and Bradley Leech of the U.S. Navy. Our department has also been closely working with the Fort Bend County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3 and their tactical team. On May 22nd, our tactical medics were on scene during a raid by their office in Weston Lakes, TX which resulted in multiple arrests.
Our Tactical Medic team is available for request by any law enforcement agency. Further information can be obtained by using our contact form.
We would like to thank the Harris Fort Bend ESD100 commissioners for their support in funding this program.
